TORONTO – The body pulled from the Humber River Sunday was a 33-year-old Toronto man who tried to rescue his dog, Toronto police say.
Police are not releasing the name of the man but family identified the man as Peter Barnaba to CityNews.
Police responded to Cruickshank Park Wednesday shortly before 5:30 p.m. after a witness said she saw the man jump in the river after his dog fell in. The dog got out on its own.
Crews searched for hours but were unsuccessful.
The Marine Unit then searched the river for several days before locating a body Sunday.
